All Staff Meeting on June 1st 2024 at Christ Church Gilbert 1120 S Gilbert Rd in Gilbert Town Square.

All Staff Meeting June 20th 2024 from 5:30PM to 8PM same location. Dinner is provided.

Senior Staff Job Description

Mountain Meadow Ranch is comprised of numerous rustic cabins which are shared by the Counselor, Junior Counselor, and their campers. It is located just under the Mogollon Rim near the little town of Christopher Creek 25 miles east of Payson. The creek itself runs through the campground. In addition, the facilities include a dining hall, an outdoor amphitheater, a campfire circle, restroom facilities, a multi-purpose building, an archery range, a volleyball court and a Frisbee golf course.

Counselors at Faith Adventure Camp are the mainstay of the program. The camp is counselor-led and relationship-based. Each Counselor and teen-aged Junior Counselor are responsible for approximately 8 campers. It isn’t a week of relaxation, but it is a week of change and growth in a beautiful setting where you can revel in God’s creation and in His love.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

A Senior Counselor at Faith Adventure Camp must:

  • Have a love for the Lord and be willing to communicate this to campers.

  • Be a High School Graduate, 21 years of age or older

  • Have a willingness to serve.

  • Have love and patience with children.

  • Have enthusiasm.

  • Have a non-critical attitude and be quick to praise.

  • Be flexible and willing to adjust.

  • Be self-disciplined.

  • Be responsible to know the information in the staff manual.

Senior counselor specific requirements

  • Be responsible for the cabin group along with your Junior Counselor, 24 hours per day.

  • Look after camper health and safety.

  • Sit at the table with campers, assist with serving, manners, etc.

  • Plan and execute cabin activities—especially for block time.

  • Participate in evening activities with your cabin group.

  • Be responsible to the Camp Director.

  • Teach Activity classes as arranged with Activity Director.

  • Sit and participate with campers at all Bible Adventures.

  • Attend 7am counselor meeting, daily.

ACTIVITY SPECIALIST SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Meet general requirements listed above.

  • Prepare and teach in a specialty area 4 activity hours daily.

  • Attend 7am staff meeting, daily.

  • Attend all Bible Adventures and participate as requested.

  • Assist with cabins as needed or requested.

  • Participate in Adventure Day.

  • Be available for other tasks, as needed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Selection is based on spiritual maturity, ability to lead and work with younger children, and references, not first come, first served.

All Senior Staff MUST attend two counselor training meetings held prior to camp.

All Senior Staff MUST be certified in CPR.

All selected applicants must authorize a background check unless one is already on file with Faith Adventure Camp.

If your own children will be campers, there is NO guarantee you will be his/her counselor.

If your own children will be campers, you must have them registered prior to arriving at camp.

Cell phones may only be used at camp for alarm clocks or during your free time and then they must be used discreetly, away from campers.

SAFETY GUIDELINES

Transportation to and from FAC is your responsibility.

Campers will be supervised by an adult or junior leader at all times.

There will be at least two leaders at each scheduled activity.

Two leaders will be present when supervising showers.

Staff will not be alone or out of sight of another leader when with a single child.

Staff will not discipline children by use of physical punishment. Supervised "time out", finding an alternative activity, or loss of a privilege (i.e. snack bar), are acceptable alternatives.

Junior Staff Job Description

Dear Prospective Junior Staff and Parents:

Thank you for your interest in Faith Adventure Camp. Please read the following qualifications for Junior Staff then fill out and submit your application. Junior Staff are very important to the success of the camp. You can relate to campers in a way that adults cannot. Therefore, we want Junior Staff of the highest caliber to help be responsible for the many children who come to camp to have fun and learn about Jesus.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Junior Counselors must:

  • Have completed 8th grade and be at least 14 years of age.

  • Have a willingness to serve.

  • Have love and patience with children.

  • Have enthusiasm.

  • Have a non-critical attitude and be quick to praise.

  • Be flexible and willing to adjust.

  • Be self-disciplined.

  • Be respectful of authority, property and campers.

  • Be responsible to know the information in the staff manual.

Specific Requirements

Junior Counselors will:

  • Assist the counselor in being responsible for the cabin group.

  • Sit at the table with campers, assist with serving, manners, etc.

  • Help your cabin group plan and execute cabin activities.

  • Plan and help with "Free Time" activities to give counselors a break.

  • Be responsible to the counselor of your cabin group and to the director.

  • Assist in Activity Classes as assigned (usually 2 per day).

  • Sit and participate with campers at all Bible Adventures.

  • Look after camper health and safety.

  • Lead morning devotions.

  • Participate in evening activities with your cabin group.

  • Be responsible for campers during free-time.

  • Attend a daily J.C. meeting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Applications are accepted after January 1st.

  • Selection is based on spiritual maturity, ability to lead and work with younger children and references, not first come, first served.

  • You must attend two counselor training meetings held prior to camp.

  • You must submit proof of CPR certification.

  • All selected applicants over the age of 18 must authorize a background check unless one is already on file with Faith Adventure Camp.

  • Junior Staff can use camp as part of their community service hours.

  • Cell phones may only be used at camp for alarm clocks or during your free time and then they must be used discreetly, away from campers.

  • NOTE: Junior Staff who do not conduct themselves in a responsible manner can be dismissed from their duties and sent home at their own expense.
