General Information

This section of the website will tell you everything you need to know to prepare you and your child for a wonderful time at Faith Adventure Camp, so please read it carefully.

We realize that by sending your child to camp you are entrusting us with one of your most precious treasures. Our goal is to provide your child with new adventures and activities in as safe a manner as possible, so all activities are planned with safety in mind and performed with adult supervision.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENTS

You must complete all of the registration forms, all applicable releases and authorizations, submit required documentation (immunization record and medical insurance card) and pay your child’s fees by June 13, 2024 in order for your child to be registered for camp. SCHEDULE

You will check your camper in between 2:00 - 4:00 on Sunday in the Dining Hall. Campers will sign up for their camp activities on a first-come, first-served basis during this check-in process. Campers must be present to choose their own activities. Campers who arrive early will be required to wait until 2:00 to begin the check-in process.

The camp session begins at 4:30 pm on Sunday, so we request that all parents depart the Mountain Meadow Ranch property by 4:15 pm on the first day of camp.

The camp session will end at 10:00 am on Saturday. Please be aware that the campers will not be released to leave until 10:00 unless prior arrangements have been made. For liability reasons, ALL campers and their family members must leave the Mountain Meadows Ranch property no later than 12 noon on the last day of camp. The Camper Activity Release and Sign-out Authorization must include the names and phone numbers of anyone authorized to transport your child home, including parents and legal guardians.

Mountain Meadow Ranch prohibits smoking and pets on the property. These policies will be strictly enforced. Please leave pets at home when dropping off and picking up your camper.

MEDICATION

To assist in maintaining health and safety, all medications MUST be turned in to the nurse upon arrival at camp. She will be responsible for dispensing these medications as per written instructions on the bottle or from the doctor. You must fill out a Medicine Dosing Schedule to have the nurse dispense the medication to your child - you can download that form here. Please make sure that all medication is in its original packaging, labeled with the camper's name and the proper instructions for dispensing. Over the counter medication can be dispensed with your written permission. Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Benadryl, Phenylephrine/Guaifenesin (cold/cough), Pepto-Bismol, Tums, and topical medications will be provided by the camp nurse as needed.

Faith Adventure Camp policy related to Essential Oils:

The Federal Drug and Food Administration (FDA) has not and cannot approve the use of essential oils as medication until proper and controlled research has been done.  Therefore, essential oils do not fall into the category of medication. Because of this, our camp nurses are unable to administer essential oils to children at camp.  In addition, there are considerable documented allergic reactions to plant based oils.  As a result, and in overall consideration for the safety of all participants, it is FAC 's policy to not permit essential oils at camp. We understand that the medical world is ever evolving and changing.  For this reason, the FAC Board will reconsider this policy if and when the FDA and other regulated sources present supporting evidence to do so.

OUTDOOR SKILLS SAFETY

Prior to camp please assist us by explaining to your camper the necessity of listening to and following instructions given by counselors and activity leaders so that his/her time can be safe and fun. Each activity will start with an explanation of safety rules.

Part of the FAC activity program includes Outdoor Living Skills (Camp Craft). These activities may include learning the proper use of pocket knives. Pocket knives may be sent to camp as long as the blades are not longer than 3 inches. Please instruct your child that his/her knife may only be used during camp skill classes and in the presence of an adult. It is essential that they understand that a knife is not a toy to be played with at other times.

Another part of Outdoor Living Skills includes the proper laying, lighting, and extinguishing of campfires. Campers who have been instructed at home not to play with or use matches may need to be given permission to use matches while in class with an adult.

SNACK BAR

There is a snack bar available with a spending limit of $12.00 per child for the week. This money has already been included in the camp fee. Unless your camper's fee was paid using scholarship funds, left over snack bar money will be returned to him/her at the end of camp. If you do not wish for your child to use the camp snack bar, you will need to provide alternative snacks for your child.

MAIL

Mail is an important part of camp. Campers will be encouraged to write home at least once. Please provide envelopes and stamps for that activity. Self-addressed, stamped envelopes my be easiest for younger campers.

Campers also love to receive mail. It is helpful if you send a word of encouragement saying that all is fine at home and that you hope your child is learning new things and having a good time. Homesickness is a concern, especially for younger children, please use discretion in your choice of news to relate, keeping letters upbeat and positive. PLEASE be sure to include the proper amount of postage (bulky, overweight, etc.) or the mail will not be delivered. In order to keep forest critters out of the cabins, food is NOT permitted in any cabin, so please do not mail snacks of any kind.

Your camper can receive mail at:

CAMPER’S NAME

C/O MOUNTAIN MEADOW RANCH

630 N. MOUNTAIN MEADOW DRIVE

PAYSON, AZ 85541

We recommend mailing a letter before your camper leaves home so that it arrives early in the week. Please do not mail any letters after Wednesday - they are not likely to be received before the end of camp. If you would like to bring mail when you drop off your camper, you can give the letters to the camp staff during the registration process.

What to Bring

When selecting a suitcase to pack for camp, please keep in mind that space in the cabins is limited. We recommend suitcases less than 12 inches in height, when laid flat, so they can be stored beneath the bunks. DO NOT SEND ANY NEW CLOTHES. Camp is a place to be outdoors and to have adventures, old clothes are best for this. Unclaimed and lost and found items will be given to a charitable organization. CAMPERS: Pack this list in the top of your suit-case so you can be sure you have everything when you repack at camp.
